Miami
Bienvenidos a Miami!

Don't be MIA, visit MIA.
Why
The Why, When & How to visit...
Miami is bursting with energy from the sun shining to the beaches, to the Art Deco Ocean Drive, to the street art of Wynwood, and the Cuban culture in Little Havana. Miami is one fun place!
When
How
Miami's International Airport (MIA) is a 20 minute drive west of downtown and ~40 minute drive from Miami Beach. Fort Lauderdale's airport (FLL) is another option about an hour drive north of Miami depending on traffic.
Miami's temperatures are pretty consistent varying only 14 degrees throughout the year from average highs of 74 F in January to 88 F in August. November - March is probably the best time to visit with warm, but not hot temperatures and the least amount of rain. That's also when Art Basel and SOBEWFF occur in December and February, respectively.
Where
to stay...
Miami has no shortage of nice new and newly renovated hotels on and off the beach. I narrowed it down to four mid-priced options on or near the beach:

1) The Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club - The Cadillac Hotel is located on Miami Beach in a beautiful Art Deco building built in 1940. The hotel underwent a major renovation completed in late 2018, which revitalized the hotel into a fresh, modern ocean-side oasis. The ground level has a chic lounge that combines the Art Deco foundation with tropical glam vibes. The lounge leads outdoors to the beautiful grounds with 2 pools complete with lounge chairs and cabanas and an outdoor bar & restaurant. Rooms are large and beautifully designed with an airy feel. Some have a balcony to breathe in the ocean air. For more information and the ability to book, click here.

2) The Savoy Hotel & Beach Club - Originally opened in 1935, The Savoy Hotel & Beach Club is a Historic Hotel of America and transports the guest back in time with a fresh design. Located on the far south end of South Beach, The Savoy has it all: large pools & bars, beachfront access, outdoor dining and chic design that makes you feel like you're in Florida. Rooms vary in size from large to very large, including suites with living & dining space & a balcony. For more information and the ability to book, click here.

3) The Goodtime Hotel - The Goodtime Hotel may be the prettiest hotel in Miami. Opened in April 2021 by owners Pharrell Williams and David Grutman, The Goodtime has a beautiful, feminine aesthetic. There's no shortage of pink throughout the hotel making for a great female retreat or romantic getaway. The design features both inside and out are beautifully done and showcased through every inch of the space. The hotel has two adjacent outdoor pools, indoor & outdoor bars, an outdoor fitness space, and a nearby beach club. More details on the hotel, along with the ability to book is accessible here.
4) Moxy Miami South Beach - The Moxy brand was made for Miami and it really upped its game with the Miami South Beach hotel, which opened in February 2021. The fun Moxy decor is featured throughout the hotel emphasizing their play + party motto. The newly constructed hotel maximized its outdoor space with a large outdoor pool, massive outdoor restaurant & lounges across the rooftop and 2nd floor. It also has beach access with its nearby Beach Hut. Rooms vary in size, with floor to ceiling windows to maximize light, including some with bunk beds for groups. More details on the hotel, along with the ability to book is accessible here.
What
to...
Do
Aside from enjoying some fun in the sun on the beach or at the pool with some Mojitos, below are my top suggestions on how best to experience Miami:

1) Enjoy Ocean Drive - A highlight of Miami is certainly the beautiful Art Deco buildings on Ocean Drive. Go beyond just seeing the buildings and take a tour with a Miami Design Preservation League guide to gain a better understanding and appreciation of the architecture. The tour also includes admission to the Art Deco Museum. For details and the ability to book, click here. After experiencing Ocean Drive, hop in an antique convertible to have a driver show you around the rest of Miami Beach, downtown, and over to Wynwood in this 2 hour private classic car tour here.
2) Explore Wynwood - One place that makes Miami unique is Wynwood. Wynwood is a former industrial area containing the largest concentration of street art in the US. Block after block is covered in murals and graffiti and a definite unique highlight of the city. Capture your group in front of the art throughout Wynwood with a professional photographer here. Combine the art and food of Wynwood with this tour that will not only explore the art of Wynwood, including access to the Wynwood Walls Museum, but also take you to 5 restaurants to sample local bites.

Keep the art experience going by heading to the Superblue Miami Immersive Art Experience. Superblue is said to be the first-of-its-kind, a dynamic large-scale art installations across 50,000 sf you need to see to believe, and is only available in Miami.

3) Little Havana - Experience the sights and sounds of Miami’s vibrant Cuban neighborhood on this Little Havana Food & Walking Tour. Sample local cuisine from family-owned and operated Cuban restaurants, while learning about the Cuban history and culture. Meet some local artists, watch skilled Cuban cigar rollers, and listen to traditional Cuban music. Alternatively, combine a tour of both Little Havana & Wynwood into one with this guided tour.

4) Take a Boat Ride - After completing the Little Havana tour, get on the water for as little as $30 on this bi-level yacht for a 90 minute boat ride. The boat departs from nearby Bayside Marketplace in Biscayne Bay and will go past Hibiscus, Venetian, Sunset and Star Island for an opportunity to see some of the extravagant homes in the area. Eat
Cuban food, including a Cuban Sandwich, arepas, croquetas, fritas and pastelitos. Enjoy Cuban food from family-owned and operated Cuban restaurants, while learning about the Cuban history and culture on this Little Havana Food & Walking Tour.
